All-time shop fave, this 36 track release features songs from the burning heart of raw talent that is Cody ChesnuTT. A rich pastiche of rock'n'roll, funk, pop, soul, jazz and hip hop, recorded at home on a 4-track, coming on like the bastard child of George Clinton, Tommy Guerrero and Lenny Kravitz (but miles better). He's appeared on The Roots "Phrenology" LP (his original version of their chart hit "The Seed V2.0" is included here) and has associations with nu soul singers such as Erykah Badu and Tupac (a Cody composition appeared on Gridlock'd!). Sweet soul ballads, sunny halcyon days strumming and dirty as fuck hip hop, it's a stream of consciousness from someone who's so far under the radar of the mainstream. Feted by Straight No Chaser, GPWW and the Guardian newspaper, this was our barbecue CD of the year for 2003! And there can be no higher honour bestowed on an album than that.
