ABOUT THIS ITEM
This is the 1968 debut album from Caetano Veloso who, along with Gilberto Gil and Gal Costa, became one of the key players in Brazil's Tropicalia movement. Influenced as much by the The Beatles "Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" as by the classic bossa nova sound of Joao Gilberto, Caetano tried to create a more global Brazilian sound. This he married with subtle poetic lyrics (he's often been called Brazil's Bob Dylan) critical of Brazil's military junta.
