Bruce Ivery engages in some very futuristic, very grooving house music here on Stilove4music. "The Things I Want" is all about the percussion. Rolling hi-hats sparkle with electricity, hand claps are sharp as razors and snares rattle like crabs in a barrel. Sweeping galactic effects and synth stabs keep the dynamics intense and driving for a peak time basement-bugging monster of a track. "Bruce Falls" takes Lil' Louis' "Dial Tone" and adds Ivery's rolling beats and rumbling basslines. Ivery really goes to work on the vocal / synthline manipulation, much more than Lil' Louis, to create a real head-fuck of a house groove; wonderful stuff that'll get the kids scratching their heads. Finally, "The Warning" shuffles with gorgeously crisp snares and enveloping bass arp line. Real attention to detail makes for lush depth through the mix, with warming, blissful sounds colliding with micro-epic breakdowns and heavy drops. Sometimes a house record seems to spring from nowhere with a completely fresh sound while retaining a familiar accessibility. This is amazing! You need.
