Clocking in a one second under ten minutes, the full disco version of Blondie's "Rapture" is a bona fide disco classic from the New York new wave band. Released in 1981, it managed to unite the emerging NYC sounds of new wave / post punk, disco and hip hop in one fell swoop. As well as the monumental bassline, glorious groove, exceptional breaks and soaring vocals, Debbie Harry's well informed rap section (name-checking Grandmaster Flash and Fab 5 Freddy, shit, even the video featured graffiti artist Jean-Michel Basquiat!) took the song to a whole new level of cultural importance.
