Following on from Warp's release of Battles "EP C/B" EP collection comes the New York quartet's debut album proper. Featuring members of Don Caballero and Helmet, the band create a sound that combines avant-rock, jazz and electronica, reminiscent of the abandonment of their NY no wave predecessors. Utilising prog-style time changes, the treated vocals of Tyondai Braxton, almost tribal drumming and synth distortion, the music teeters on the edge before being reined back in at the last moment.
